The Esther Children's Home is a ministry of the Church of God in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, India. As of March 2008 there are 36 children who live in this home. Some are street children who have no idea who their mother or father is. Other children have a mom or dad, (some have both), but their parents are so poor that they can barely support themselves, let alone their children.
Building Hope Ministries is thankful that generous sponsors have provided month-to-month financial support for each child. This alone is a tremendous praise report.
Currently, the children are staying in a home in Eluru, thanks to the generosity of a family who has willingly provided half of their home at a very low cost so these children have a place to rest their heads at night. 25 girls sleep in one room and 11 boys sleep in another. While the conditions of this home are good, and it is certainly better than living on the street, we know that they can have a better lifestyle.
One of the visions of Building Hope Ministries is to build and staff a permanent facility for at least 50 children. This building would alleviate the concern of month-to-month rent and would build greater hope and confidence for those who live in the home.
It is our hope that this home can be constructed by the year 2010. For this to be possible, we need to begin raising funds now.
